Blight, Decatur

No matter how I trim,
the blight creeps,
yellowing the vine
toward the crown
still green with tomatoes
yet to ripen.
I want this to possess
some larger meaning.
But it doesn’t.
It is merely blight,
a fungus to which most tomatoes
succumb, here,
in summer.
